abolish the tv licence

The BBC is respected across the globe. One of the reasons for this is because the BBC provides services such as BBC America and the World Service. Both of these are funded by licence fees but received by people across the world who don't pay a penny!! We are the only developed country to pay a TV Licence. New Zealand was the last country to abolish it after a public uproar and people stopped paying it. The recent advertisments threatening people with £1000 fines if they don't pay it are in place because the BBC know that if enough people refuse to pay the licence fee, they are screwed!! Plus, look at it this way. Would you be happy to walk into a newsagents and ask for a copy of The Times only to be told that you can only have The Times if you buy a copy of The Sun. Its the same with TV. You can only watch ITV or Channel 4 if you pay for the BBC.

I choose not to pay the license and therefore not to have a television. Half of the programmes are absolute rubbish and the other half seem to provide for mindless entertainment. Programmes can be watched now on 4oD or BBC I Player on the Internet, allowing me to select what I want to watch and when I want to watch it. If I desperately want to watch a series or something, I can buy it on DVD and keep it forever. Whatever happens, you choose to pay your TV license by choosing to have a TV.

Why should I pay for a service that I do not value. The only thing I watch on bbc is Match of the day and family guy there should be an option to pay only if you watch it and have it encrypted if you don't.
In my opinion the majority of programs the bbc produces are crap. Little Britain = Not funny. Dr who = Social retards.

By the way. If anyone does come round to your house from TV licencing (sorry..BBC licencing) and demands to come in (which has happened on many occasions) then you are quite within your rights to demand they remove themselves from your premises or you will call the police. These jumped up hitlers make themselves sound very important but they have NO right of entry to anyone's property and don't let them tell you otherwise.
